Coaches Courses
By 2010 all coaches are required to have attended a 3 hour coaches certification course. In 2008 the courses are being held on a club basis. We need to have a minimum of 10 coaches agreeing to attend in order to run a course. Our coaches Course Coordinator is Andrew Jarrett.
Discounts & Benefits
As a coach, we thank you for your dedication. In return, we offer a small gratitude through the following benefits:
- A refund of part or all senior registration fees;
- A team managers shirt/jacket (as decided by the committee);
- Complimentary full club membership
Working With Children
All persons working with children are required by law to complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration form which, after completion, is held with the club.
Junior Development Program
From time to time, opportunities are presented for young players to enter the Junior Development Program. These players return to the club as seniors and often become our future coaches. It is therefore important that we consider giving these players the opportunity they deserve. Our JDP liaison officer is Andrew Jarrett.
Referee Opportunities
There is a real shortage of referees within our area. Any person aged 13 years and over can attend referee training courses which are advertised from time to time. A referee can both play and referee and are allocated to referee games where there is no conflict with the team they are a member of. Being a referee gives a player greater insight into the game, teaches discipline and responsibility as well as being a financial incentive. Coaches should encourage their players to become a referee. Our liaison officer for referees is David Spears
Insurance
A copy of the insurance policy is included in the team manager’s file. Our Insurance reporting officer is Michael Trist
Emergency/Conflict/Grievance Procedures
We are required to have a committee member on duty at all our home games. In the first instance, please contact them. If none is available you, as coach, are responsible for handling the immediate situation – you must inform either Tom Campbell or Michael Trist of any incidences and a written record of the instance taken.
Support Available From Seniors Or Professional Trainers
Coaches may actively seek support for their team training from both within and outside the club. All requests for support must be approved by the club committee to ensure that all professional and legal liability requirements have been met and to approve any funding.
Gala Days and Other Activities
Gala Days and other opportunities become available to gain additional skills throughout the year. Coaches should consider using these to promote skill level and comradre.
Canteen
The junior canteen is manned by volunteers and a roster is generated. Team Managers are responsible to ensure that a parent of the rostered team assists. Our canteens are a major fund raiser to keep our fees at an absolute minimum. The Canteen roster is here.
