Club History

An historic Special General Meeting was held on Wed 19 Dec 7pm at Urunga Golf Club to form the Urunga Football Club.

At the AGMs in 2007 it was announced that the NCF requirement for senior football to have a junior playing base would be enforced in the 2008 season. Urunga District Soccer Club Incorporated approached Urunga Junior Soccer Club Incorporated with a proposal to merge to form a new entity, Urunga Football Club Incorporated, subject to approval at a Special General Meeting which was held at 7.00 pm on Wed 19 Dec at Urunga Golf Club.

A meeting between the two club executives was held on 6 & 20 Nov 07 to scope out the Terms of Amalgamation.

It is envisaged that the Urunga Football Club will consist of an Executive Committee and several sub-committees responsible for key aspects of the club, including Seniors (including 6 aside), Juniors, Referees & Junior Development Program (JDP). The amalgamation should be seamless, meaning that current arrangements, club colours etc will remain unchanged for 2008. There should be some administrative advantages in merging common functions, such as registrations.

The historic Special General Meeting was held at 7.00 pm on Wed 19 Dec at Urunga Golf Club to vote on the amalgamation and appoint the first Committee Executives.

OUR YOUNG KIDS JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF FOOTBALL !

It was excitement plus at Urunga Football Club on Saturday 21 Jun 08 when the club hosted a very successful mini gala day for young soccer players from Dorrigo, Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca Heads and Macksville. The wonderful weekend weather provided perfect conditions for the 28 teams made up of 140 children, aged 6 and 7, to develop their football skills, and have lots of fun. This year has seen the introduction of Small-Sided Games (SSG) within the North Coast area. This form of game is designed to encourage skills development by giving children more contact with the ball and more actual experience of the play. Of course, this adds to the kids' enjoyment of the game.  SSG relies on the support of parents as coaches, team leaders and for organising to set up the fields, but with lots of smiles all round, it is well worth it. The club expresses their thanks to all the children and parents who made the effort to take part in this Gala day.
